1 Killed, 1 Injured in Palmview, TX, Car Accident on Minnesota Rd

Palmview, TX -- March 12, 2017, one person was killed and another injured in an accident where their vehicle crashed on Minnesota Road and the driver fled.

Investigators from the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department reported that the incident happened around 11:15 a.m. near the intersection of Minnesota Road and W 6 Mile Road.

According to preliminary reports, a Pontiac Aztek was traveling along Minnesota Road. For reasons unclear, the vehicle lost control and swerved off-road. It then overturned, ejecting one passenger in the process.

Following the crash, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. EMS arrived and transported one person to the hospital with serious injuries. The person ejected during the crash was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have yet to locate the driver. The cause of the accident is also under investigation at this time. No further information is available.
