Man Killed in Accident near 3400 South Halsted Street in Chicago, IL

Chicago, IL -- A single-vehicle crash around 4:24 a.m. in the area of Chicago, IL took the life of one person Thursday, March 9, 2017.

The incident took place near 3400 South Halsted Street.

It looks like the victim's vehicle was traveling along South Halsted when for reasons unclear, the car lost control. The vehicle subsequently struck light pole, finally coming to rest against the side of a building. The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old man, was killed at the scene of the incident.

The report made no mention of other injuries in the collision.

The exact cause of the crash had yet to be determined at the time of the report.

The official investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
