One Injured in Cocoa, FL, Dump Truck Accident on Highway 520

Cocoa, FL -- February 28, 2017, one persons sustained serious injuries after an accident where their vehicle was struck by a dump truck on Highway 520.

Authorities from Brevard County and the Florida State Highway Patrol were called to the accident scene at around 3:45 p.m. The crash happened near the intersection of Highway 520 (King Street) and I-95.

Preliminary police investigations did not release many details on what caused the accident. They say that a dump truck somehow crashed into the side of a passenger car, pushing it off the roadway.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital via helicopter. Reports did not mention any other injuries.

No charges or citations were reported following the crash. Authorities have not released any further information at this time.
