One Killed, One Hurt in Suspected DUI Accident at 59th Place & Heliotrope Avenue in Maywood, CA

Maywood, CA -- An alleged alcohol related incident in the area of Maywood, CA took the life of an unidentified person and left one hurt Friday, March 3, 2017.

The incident took place at 59th Street & Heliotrope Avenue around 2:30 p.m.

According to the reports, a Dodge Challenger was traveling near the intersection when the incident occurred. The vehicle then struck a parked car, subsequently colliding with two men in a conversation with a parked code enforcement officer.

The driver then collided with another car, striking several more people, then fled the scene of the incident.

One pedestrian was killed, while another was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

The exact cause of the incident has not been determined, but police say alcohol may have been a factor.

The official investigation is ongoing.
