1 Killed, 1 Injured in North Charleston, SC, Truck Accident on I-26

North Charleston, SC -- February 7, 2017, one person was killed and another was injured after an accident where a box truck crashed off of I-26.

Authorities from the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the fatal accident scene just before 1:00 p.m. near the intersection of I-26 and Aviation Avenue.

According to preliminary investigations, a driver and a passenger were in an Isuzu box truck traveling eastbound on I-26. For reasons that were not reported, the box truck lost control and veered off the side of the highway. As a result, it crashed head-on into a roadside tree.

The passenger of the truck suffered critical injuries in the crash and died at the scene. The driver was taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.

Police investigators have not determined what particular factors caused the accident. No additional details were released.
