Michael North Killed in Truckee, CA, Snowboarding Accident

Truckee, CA -- February 23, 2017, Michael North was killed following an accident in which he crashed while snowboarding at a resort.

Authorities from the Placer County Sheriff's Department were called to the Northstar California resort. The resort is just north of Lake Tahoe.

According to police investigations, 43-year-old North was snowboarding at the resort on an advanced terrain slope. He somehow lost control while going down the slope, and he careened into a thicket of trees. This somehow inflicted fatal injuries to him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, authorities have not indicated what particular factors might have contributed to the accident. No additional details have been released at this time.
