Kory Platt Injured in Homer, NY, Bicycle Accident

Homer, NY -- March 1, 2017, Kory Platt sustained injuries as the result of an accident in which he was struck by a vehicle.

Officials from the Cortland County Sheriff's Department reported that the accident happened near the intersection of State Highway 41 and Limerick Lane.

According to their reports, 20-year-old Platt was riding his bicycle along the side of NY-41. He was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time. For reasons that aren't clear, his path crossed with an oncoming pickup truck. The vehicle struck the bicycle and knocked Platt onto the roadway.

Platt was seriously injured in the crash. Authorities say he was taken to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition.

Authorities did not report any charges following the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
