Benjamin Tripp Killed in Accident in Erwin, NC

Erwin, NC -- A work incident in the area of Erwin, NC claimed the life of 35-year-old Benjamin Tripp Monday, February 27, 2017.

The deadly incident took place at Dean's Towing and Recovery at 2302 Erwin Road around 3 p.m.

According to the report, Mr. Tripp was moving cement product on pallets with a forklift. At some point, the rear tire ran off the flatbed, leaving the equipment overturned. It appears the forklift landed on Mr. Tripp at some point. The exact cause of the incident had yet to be determined at the time of the report.

Officials with the North Carolina Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Division are currently examining the incident.

There was no further information provided by the report regarding the incident.
