Teen Injured in Waco, TX, 18-wheeler Accident on Loop 340

Waco, TX -- March 1, 2017, a teenage girl was injured as the result of an accident in which she was struck by an 18-wheeler while trying to cross Loop 340.

Waco Police and emergency personnel were called to the accident scene in the evening hours of Wednesday. The accident happened along Loop 340, though reports did not specify where exactly.

According to preliminary police reports, the girl, a 14-year-old, was attempting to cross the highway to a church on the other side. As she did so, she somehow crossed paths with an oncoming 18-wheeler. The 18-wheeler's passenger side made contact with the pedestrian, knocking her to the roadway.

As a result of the collision, the girl sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital.

Authorities have not released any additional details surrounding the accident.
