One Killed in Accident on Route 1 in Rising Sun, MD

Rising Sun, MD -- A collision between a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck left one unidentified person dead around 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

The collision happened on Route 1.

It appears a Honda Civic occupied by the victim was traveling along Route 1 when it collided with a Peterbilt big rig. While it is unclear what caused the collision, officials say the driver of the passenger car was killed. The driver of the semi was uninjured in the incident.

Further details, including the identities of all those involved, had yet to be disclosed.

The official investigation into the crash is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
