Jason Kenneth Matthews Killed in Accident in McDowell County, WV

McDowell County, WV -- A workplace incident at a coal mine left 43-year-old Jason Kenneth Matthews dead Monday, February 27, 2017.

The incident happened at the Southern Coal Bishop Prep Plant.

It looks like the victim fell to his death around 10:30 p.m. The report claims Mr. Matthews worked as a plant floor man. According to the report, Southern Coal is owned by Governor Jim Justice. At the time of the report, no further information was made available regarding the incident.

The West Virginia Office of Miner's Health is currently investigating the incident.

As the investigation unfolds, more information may become known.
