Komika Washington & 5-Year-Old Daughter Injured, Jacob Jacquez Killed in Accident in Kaufman, TX

Kaufman, TX -- A suspected alcohol related crash in the area of Kaufman, TX left one Komika Washington and her 5-year-old daughter with injuries, and killed 23-year-old Jacob Jaquez Friday, February 24, 2017.

The incident took place on SH 34 around 5:30 a.m.

According to police, the vehicle driven by Mr. Jaquez, was headed south when for reasons unknown it veered into the northbound lane. The careening vehicle then struck a second vehicle occupied by Ms. Washington and her five-year-old daughter.

Ms. Washington and her daughter were taken to a nearby hospital, and were last listed in critical condition.

Mr. Jaquez was taken to Kaufman Presbyterian, but later succumbed to his injuries.

The official investigation into the crash is currently underway.

The preliminary press release provided no further information at the time of its release.
