Verne Gilbert Killed in Accident in Oak Ridge, TN

Oak Ridge, TN -- A collision between a passenger vehicle and a bicycle took the life of 85-year-old Verne Gilbert in the area of Oak Ridge, TN Sunday, February 19, 2017.

The incident took place at the intersection of Highway 58 & Blair Road around 2 p.m.

At the time of the report, it appeared the SUV struck the bicyclist. The deceased victim, 85-year-old Verne Gilbert, killing him at the scene. It is unclear what caused the deadly collision. The report made no mention of other injuries in the collision.

The press release provided no further information at the time of its release.

The official investigation into the crash is currently underway.
