Murray Mazetti Dead, 1 Hurt in Polk County, TX, Single-Vehicle Accident

Polk County, TX -- February 20, 2017, Murray Mazetti was killed in Polk County, TX, following an accident in which his vehicle crashed off the highway.

Authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety indicated that the crash occurred in the late hours of Monday near the intersection of Highway 190 and FM 1276.

East of Livingston, 64-year-old Mazetti was driving a Nissan pickup westbound on US 190. For reasons which authorities did not determine, the vehicle lost control and veered off the side of the roadway. As a result, it crashed head-on into a tree.

Due to the severity of the crash, Mazetti sustained fatal injuries. His wife, who was riding passenger, sustained what were said to be non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a hospital in Livingston.

At this time, it's unclear what factors contributed to the accident. DPS officials continue their investigations.
