One Killed, One Hurt in Accident on Maco Rd. in Leland, NC

Leland, NC -- A collision between a passenger car and a tractor-trailer took the life of an unidentified person, and left one injured in the area of Leland, NC Monday, February 20, 2017.

The incident took place at Highway 17 & Maco Road around 10:20 a.m.

It appears a pickup truck collided with a lumber-hauling big rig. The report claims the rig was stopped at a light when it and the pickup crashed into one another. An unidentified passenger in the pickup was killed at the scene of the incident. The driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries. The occupant of the semi was unharmed.

The official investigation into the incident is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
