Katara Davis, Katherine Davis, Samuel Davis Killed, 2 Injured in Leonard, TX, Accident

Leonard, TX -- February 18, 2017, Katara Davis, Katherine Davis, and Samuel Davis died, two were injured, in Leonard, TX, in an accident where a pickup and a car crashed.

Leonard Police and Fire Rescue crews rushed out to the accident scene at around 10:00 p.m. They say it took place near the intersection of US Highway 69 and County Road 5070.

According to preliminary reports, a pickup and a car were traveling in opposite directions on Highway 69. The pickup, driven by Samuel Davis (no relation to the other victims), reportedly crossed over the center traffic line into the path of the oncoming car, which was occupied by 58-year-old Katherine Davis and 28-year-old Katara Davis (mother and daughter. This resulted in a head-on collision between the two vehicles, and a fire broke out.

Rescue crews worked to put out the fire and rescue the involved motorists, but they were unable to reach the victims in time. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Another two people were injured after their vehicle crashed into the other two following the initial accident. They were taken to a hospital.

At this time, police have not suggested what factors may have contributed to the accident. They say the crash remains under investigation.
