Enrique Salcido-Gutierrez Dies in Cameron, TX, Head-on Accident

Cameron, TX -- February 18, 2017, Enrique Salcido-Gutierrez was killed due to an accident where his vehicle and another crashed head-on.

Texas DPS investigators reported that the incident occurred in he late hours of Saturday near the intersection of West Battle Street and South College Avenue.

According to preliminary reports, 56-year-old Salcido-Gutierrez was driving a 1997 Hyundai sedan along West Battle. For reasons that are unclear, his vehicle crossed paths with another vehicle in the opposite lanes. The two cars crashed head-on as a result.

Salcido-Gutierrez was critically injured in the collision, and medical officials eventually pronounced him dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to a hospital with non-critical injuries.

Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the accident. They say the crash is still being investigated.
