Lloyd Ray Nichols Killed in Lamar, AR, Single-Vehicle Accident

Lamar, AR -- February 12, 2017, Lloyd Ray Nichols Jr. was killed after an accident where his vehicle lost control and crashed off-road.

The Arkansas State Police reported on the accident, saying it happened around 7:00 p.m. at 975 County Road 3840.

Their preliminary investigations indicate that 47-year-old Nichols was driving a 1995 Chevy westbound on the roadway. There were no passengers. For reasons that aren't clear, the vehicle lost control and drifted off the road. Nichols attempted to correct the vehicle, and the Chevy drove off the other side of the road. It then crashed into a tree.

As a result of the collision, Nichols sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet determined what factors contributed to the crash. Their investigations are ongoing.
