Mario Ruiz Killed in Crittenden County, AR, Car Accident

Crittenden County, AR -- February 11, 2017, Mario Ruiz was killed following an accident where his vehicle and a pickup collided on the highway.

A preliminary accident report released by the Arkansas State Police indicates that the accident occurred just before 2:00 p.m., south of State Highway 42.

The report states that 23-year-old Ruiz was traveling northbound on the interstate in a Toyota 4Runner. For reasons unclear, the Toyota crashed into the back of a Ford F-250 pickup that was hauling a trailer. The two vehicles then lost control and crashed into the roadside ditch.

Ruiz was critically injured in the crash. EMS transported him to Regional One hospital in Memphis, TN, where he later died. The other driver was not hurt.

At this time, authorities have not indicated what caused the crash. Their investigations are ongoing.
