1 Dead, 8 injured in Baton Rouge, LA, Three-Car Accident on LA-37

Baton Rouge, LA -- February 4, 2017, one person was killed, eight others injured following an accident between three vehicles on Louisiana Highway 37.

At around 11:00 p.m., a Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on the highway just north of Hooper Road. In the opposite lanes was a car and an SUV traveling northbound.

For reasons unclear, the Ford lost control and drifted into oncoming traffic. Police say it side-swiped the oncoming car before crashing head-on into the SUV.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the pickup suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The drivers of both cars sustained unspecified injuries, as well as 6 passengers all from the SUV. None of the injuries appeared life-threatening.

At this time, authorities are not sure if alcohol or any other sort of impairment was involved. They say the crash is still being investigated.
