Dana Wilson, Ryan Menke Killed, Broderick Jones Hurt in Lumberton, NC, Accident

Lumberton, NC -- February 6, 2017, Lumberton Police believe alcohol was the cause of an accident that killed Dana Wilson and Ryan Menke.

Authorities report that the accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. near the intersection of US Highway 74 and State Highway 41.

According to preliminary investigations, 18-year-old Wilson and 18-year-old Menke were both in a Ford Focus. They were traveling westbound on US 74 at the time. As they did, an Oldsmobile, driven by 38-year-old Jones, entered their path while on the wrong side of the highway. The two vehicles crashed head-on into each other.

Reports say that both Wilson and Menke suffered fatal injuries and died in the crash. Jones was critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

At this time, authorities believe Jones was intoxicated at the time of the crash. This has yet to be officially confirmed.

Investigations are still ongoing.
