Deputy Injured in Houston, TX, Street Race Accident on Bammel North Houston

Houston, TX -- February 8, 2017, a Harris County Deputy was injured in an accident where his car was struck by street racers on Bammel North Houston Road.

Harris County officials report that the incident occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday near the intersection of Bammel North Houston Road and Azalea Trace Drive.

Preliminary reports indicate that the Sheriff's Deputy was in his police cruiser at the time traveling down Bammel North Houston. As he did so, two cars engaged in a street race failed to see the cruiser in time. This led to a collision between the three vehicles. Reports say the drivers of both vehicles fled on foot.

The deputy was said to have sustained non-critical injuries, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities say the two suspects have yet to be located and apprehended. They say the investigation is ongoing.
