Richard Montgomery Killed in Baca County, CO, 18-wheeler Accident

Baca County, CO -- February 4, 2017, Richard Montgomery was killed due to an accident where his vehicle and a flatbed 18-wheeler crashed.

Colorado State Highway Patrol investigators responded to the accident scene at around 5:00 p.m. It took place just west of Springfield along US Highway 160.

68-year-=old Montgomery was traveling westbound on the highway at the time. Ahead of him, a flatbed 18-wheeler was protruding into his lane while trying to cross highway lanes. As a result, his Mustang collided into the side of the trailer.

Montgomery suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Authorities did not indicate whether or not charges or citations were being considered. They say the accident remains under investigation.
