Mike Steward Killed in Bowie County, TX, 18-wheeler Accident

Bowie County, TX -- February 6, 2017, Mike Steward was killed following an accident where his vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler.

The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the accident scene along I-30 west of Simms.

Their preliminary investigations indicate that 69-year-old Steward, a resident of Havana, AR, was traveling eastbound on the interstate in a Chevy Silverado. Ahead of him was an 18-wheeler being driven by 70-year-old James Hart. For reasons that were not made clear in reports, the pickup crashed into the back of the 18-wheeler trailer.

As a result of the collision, Steward suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Hart was not injured.

Authorities did not say what caused the accident. No potential factors have been reported.
