6 Hurt in San Antonio, TX, 18-wheeler Accident at Loop 410 & I-37

San Antonio, TX -- February 3, 2017, six people were injured after an accident where an 18-wheeler crossed into oncoming traffic on Loop 410 and crashed.

San Antonio Police officials report that the crash took place in the southbound lanes of Southeast Loop 410, close to the I-37 interchange.

Preliminary investigations indicate that an 18-wheeler was traveling northbound on the highway. For reasons that aren't clear, the truck swerved to the left side of the road, entering the grassy median and careening into oncoming traffic. As a result, the semi crashed head-on into two oncoming vehicles. A third vehicle crashed into that wreck shortly after.

Emergency services were called to the scene where they found at least six people injured at the scene. At least one of these people is said to be in critical condition. That person was taken to University Hospital via helicopter while the rest were taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center. It's unclear who came from which vehicle.

At this time, authorities continue to investigate the accident. No further information is currently available.
