Raymond Pacheco Dies, Wayne Curtis, Steven Smith Hurt in Lake Township, OH Accident

Lake Township, OH -- January 25, 2017, Raymond Pacheco was killed, Wayne Curtis and Steven Smith injured, following a head-on car accident.

Officials from the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the fatal accident. They say it occurred around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of I-280 and Bahnsen Road.

According to their investigations, 88-year-old Pacheco was traveling southbound on the interstate in a Chevy Cavalier. For reasons unclear, his vehicle crossed over into northbound lanes. This caused the Chevy to cross paths with the oncoming Ford F-150 driven by 68-year-old Wayne Curtis.

The two vehicles crashed head-on, causing Pacheco's vehicle to run off-road. The Chevy then crashed in the median, ejecting Pacheco from the vehicle. As a result, he suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Curtis and his passenger, 50-year-old Smith, were taken to Bay Park Hospital with non-critical injuries.

At this time, it's unclear what caused the accident to occur. Authorities continue their investigations.
