Treasure Hadley Dies in Accidental Fire in Baton Rouge, LA

Baton Rouge, LA -- A house fire in the area of Baton Rouge, LA claimed the life of 5-year-old Treasure Hadley Tuesday January 31, 2017.

The incident took place about 7 p.m. at the Cedarwoods Apartments on Cedarcrest Avenue.

Young Hadley's teenage sister was heating up grease in a pot on the stove and left the kitchen to take out the trash. When she returned to the second floor complex, she encountered an apartment full of heavy smoke and shooting flames. It is believed the deceased victim was in a separate room watching television. The fire quickly spread across 10 apartments over the next three hours.

The teenage girls' attempts to save her sister were thwarted by the fire.

The exact cause of Treasure Hadley's death are unclear.

The investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
