7 Injured in Syracuse, NY, Bus Accident on Park Street
Syracuse, NY -- January 19, 2017, at least 7 people were injured following an accident in which a pickup crashed into a Centro bus on Park Street.
The two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Park Street and Farmers Market Place, just off the I-81 exit ramp.
According to Syracuse authorities, an 83-year-old man was taking the exit ramp from I-81 onto Park Street. Coming up on a line of traffic, he had to swerve off the side of the road to avoid a collision. This sent his pickup careening onto traffic lanes where it crashed into the side of a Centro bus.
As a result of the collision, 6 passengers from the bus were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. A passenger from the pickup was also injured in the collision and taken from the scene. All injuries appeared non-life-threatening.
Police say that the driver of the pickup was cited for failing to reduce speed and failing to keep right on a highway. No further information is currently available.
