Vernon W. Bigelow Killed, Alex Calle-Cardenas Hurt in Accident in New Paltz, NY

New Paltz, NY -- A collision between two semi-trucks took the life of 47-year-old Vernon W. Bigelow, and left 28-year-old Alex Calle-Cardenas in the area of New Paltz, NY.

The collision took place on Interstate 87 about 8:45 p.m.

It looks like a Freightliner 18-wheeler was headed north when it collided with a Volvo semi-truck. The collision caused the semi-truck to veer out of control, which then struck the center median. The truck subsequently burst into flames.

Mr. Bigelow was killed at the scene of the incident.

Mr. Cardenas suffered slight injuries to his neck and back, but refused medical treatment.

The official investigation is currently underway and may reveal more details as it unfolds.
