Teen Injured in Port Arthur, TX, Pedestrian Accident on Memorial

Port Arthur, TX -- February 2, 2017, a teenager was injured as the result of an accident in which he was struck by a car while crossing Memorial Boulevard.

Port Arthur authorities were called out to the scene at around 3:00 p.m. The collision took place close to the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and 39th Street.

According to preliminary police reports, the 13-year-old pedestrian was attempting to cross Memorial at the time. For reasons unclear, he crossed paths with an oncoming vehicle in the southbound lanes of traffic. Before the driver could avoid the pedestrian, the mirror of the vehicle struck the teen and knocked him over.

Emergency services were called to the scene, where they found the boy conscious and responsive. He was transported to Texas Children's Hospital for treatment of injuries that were unspecified.

Police have not reported any charges or citations resulting from the accident. They have not released any more information at this time.
