1 Injured in Rockford, IL, School Bus Accident at 11th & Harrison

Rockford, IL -- January 31, 2017, at least one person was injured following an accident where a van and a school bus collided at 11th St. and Harrison Ave.

The emergency call came into the Rockford Police Department at around 9:30 a.m. According to their preliminary reports, a passenger van was traveling through the intersection at the same time as a school bus. It's unclear at this time which vehicle had the right of way at the time.

The van and the school bus crashed into each other, and the driver of the van was trapped in the vehicle as a result. Rescue teams worked for some time to extract that person before eventually transporting them to a nearby hospital. Injuries were said to be non-critical. No one on the bus was injured in the crash.

Police did not report any charges or citations resulting from the accident. They have not released any more information surrounding the incident.
