Juan Rojas Killed in Elizabeth, NJ, 18-wheeler Accident on Turnpike

Elizabeth, NJ -- January 31, 2017, a Juan Rojas was fatally injured after an accident where his 18-wheeler crashed on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike.

According to police investigators, the incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. near the Turnpike and Highway 81 interchange.

Reports state that 42-year-old Rojas was driving an 180-wheeler northbound along the Turnpike. For reasons unclear, the truck lost control and swerved off the side of the road. The truck then crashed into a concrete barrier, causing it to flip onto its side and burst into flames.

Rojas did not survive the crash, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

At this time, authorities are not sure what caused the fatal incident. They say the crash remains under investigation.
