One Killed in Truck Accident on Interstate 59 in Jones County, MS

Jones County, MS -- A collision between a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck claimed the life of an unidentified person in the are of Jones County, MS Wednesday, February 1, 2017.

Authorities say the incident took place on Interstate 59 about 4:15 a.m.

It looks like the vehicle occupied by the victim was headed south on 59 when it collided with the tractor-trailer head-on. The force of the collision pushed the big rig from the roadway, where it rolled down an embankment, landing on its side. The collision left a portion of the interstate closed for several hours. The report made no mention of other injuries related to the collision.

The report provided few details regarding the crash.
