Woman Injured in Paragould, AR, Dog Bite Accident

Paragould, AR -- January 28, 2017, a woman was injured as the result of an accident where a dog bit her on the leg while she was walking.

According to Paragould authorities, the incident occurred in a residential area around 600 37th Street.

Investigators reported that a woman was walking down the road when the dog of a nearby resident, identified as Ashley Vaughn, ran up and bit the pedestrian on the back of the leg.

The wounds did not appear critical, but the woman was taken to a hospital. Police say that Vaughn could not prove the dog had up-to-date rabies vaccinations, so the dog was taken into quarantine by animal control. Vaughn was cited for the incident.

At this time, authorities have not released any additional details. They say the incident remains under investigation.
