1 Killed, 1 Hurt in Cleveland, TX, 18-wheeler Accident on FM 1010
Cleveland, TX -- January 27, 2017, a man was killed, a truck driver injured, following an accident where their vehicles crashed head-on along FM 1010.
Officials from the Cleveland Police Department were called out to the accident scene around 3:00 a.m. It occurred near the intersection of FM 1010 and TX-105.
Their preliminary investigations indicate that a pickup was traveling eastbound along FM 1010. For reasons unclear, the vehicle crossed over into oncoming traffic, entering the path of a westbound 18-wheeler. Neither driver avoided the collision in time, and they crashed head-on.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the pickup died at the scene. The 18-wheeler driver was injured and transported to a nearby hospital. His condition was not specified.
At this time, authorities have not released the victim's identity. Factors contributing to the crash have not yet been determined.
Police continue their investigations.
