Ray Hatfield Killed in Accident in Pike County, KY

Pike County, KY -- A mining accident claimed the life of 42-year-old Ray Hatfield in the area of Pike County, KY Thursday, January 26, 2017.

The incident took place in the R&C Coal LLC Mine No. 2, according to the report.

Officials claim Mr. Hatfield worked as an attendant of the conveyor belt. The details of the deadly incident has not been determined. The incident left the mine shut down to accommodate investigators. There was no mention of other injuries related to the incident.

The official investigation is currently underway, and authorities hope to determine what occurred.
