One Dead in Austin, TX, Single-Vehicle Accident near Onion Creek

Austin, TX -- January 29, 2017, one person suffered fatally injured due to an accident in which their vehicle went off-road and crashed into a tree.

Austin-Travis authorities have reported on the fatal crash, saying it took place around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of I-35 and Onion Creek Parkway.

According to their preliminary reports, a pickup was traveling southbound on the interstate. Suddenly, the vehicle lost control and swerved off-road. As a result, it collided head-on into a tree. this collision caused the pickup to burst into flames.

The driver of the vehicle suffered incapacitating injuries and was not able to escape the vehicle. They died at the scene. The severity of the crash has made identification difficult, so no further details on the driver has been released.

At this time, authorities continue their investigations.
