Driver Injured in Houston, TX, Drunk Driving Accident on Rankin

Houston, TX -- January 29, 2017, a driver sustained serious injuries following an accident where a drunk driver crashed into a Jeep on Rankin Road.

Houston Police were called out to the head-on collision scene early Sunday morning near the intersection of Rankin Road and Rankin Circle West.

According to initial reports, a Ford was traveling down Rankin win it crossed over into oncoming traffic. This put the vehicle into the path of a Jeep, and they collided head-on into each other.

As a result, the driver of the Jeep suffered serious injuries. Responding medical teams transported him to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ford fled the scene on foot into a nearby building. Police say they located her shortly afterward. They determined she was intoxicated, but it's unclear if any charges were filed.

Authorities continue their investigations.
