Robert Baker Killed in Caldwell County, TX, Rollover Accident

Caldwell County, TX -- January 21, 2017, Robert Baker was killed after an accident in which his vehicle rolled over off of the highway.

According to Caldwell County authorities, the accident occurred in the late hours of Saturday near the intersection of TX-80 and FM 1979.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Baker was traveling down the highway in a Chevrolet pickup at the time. For reasons not yet determined, the pickup lost control and veered off the side of the highway. It careened down an embankment several hundred feet before it crashed into the concrete base of a bridge. This collision ejected him from the vehicle.

Baker suffered critical injuries due to the crash. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident.

At this time, authorities have not suggested what factors contributed to the crash. Their investigations are ongoing.
