Bicyclist Hurt in San Antonio, TX VIA Bus Accident on Castroville

San Antonio, TX -- January 27, 2017, a man was injured due to an accident in which he was hit by a VIA Bus while riding his bicycle on Castroville Road.

Officials from the San Antonio Police Department responded to the accident which occurred at around 2:00 p.m. at a bus stop near Castroville Road and Romero.

According to preliminary reports, a man, said to be a 65-year-old, was riding his bike near the stop along Castroville. For reasons unclear, he reportedly fell from his bike just as a VIA Bus was pulling into the stop. As a result, the bus hit the man on the roadway.

After the collision, the bicyclist was rushed to University Hospital with serious but unspecified injuries. No one else was hurt in the accident.

At this time, authorities have not indicated what factors led to the incident. They say investigations are ongoing.
