Rita Matthews Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident in Middletown, OH

Middletown, OH -- A single-vehicle alleged alcohol related incident in Middletown, OH claimed the life of Rita Matthews, 62, Sunday, January 29, 2017.

Ms. Matthews was allegedly operating the vehicle, headed south on University Boulevard when the incident took place. Some time near 12:45 a.m., the vehicle careened off the roadway, striking a curb, and throwing the deceased victim from the vehicle. The vehicle reportedly flipped over, pinning the woman beneath. Ms. Matthews was killed at the scene of the incident.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, but police say they believe alcohol was a factor.

The official investigation is currently underway.
