Worker Killed in Ashland County, WI, Tree Trimming Accident

Ashland County, WI -- January 23, 2017, a worker was fatally injured due to an accident in which a piece of a tree fell on him while being trimmed.

Officials from the Ashland County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident scene at about 11:00 a.m. It happened just outside of Highbridge along Wisconsin Highway 13.

Preliminary accident investigations indicate that the victim, a 45-year-old man, was trimming a tree at the time. A large branch apparently broke earlier than expected, causing it to fall. The man could not react in time, and it struck him on the way down.

The man's injuries were critical, and he died at the scene shortly after the incident. No other injuries occurred.

At this time, authorities have not mentioned any extenuating circumstances contributing to the accident. Investigations are ongoing.
