Michael Seyoum Killed in Accident in Kalamazoo, MI

Kalamazoo, MI -- A single-vehicle incident left 53-year-old Michael Seyoum dead Sunday, January 22, 2017 in the area of Kalamazoo, MI.

The incident took place at a Speedway on Westnedge Avenue about 7 p.m.

It is claimed Mr. Seyoum was pumping gas at his vehicle when a woman, an unidentified 74-year-old, backed into the pump. The pump then burst into flames, setting the man on fire. An eyewitness was able to pull the man from the flames, where he was taken to a local hospital. Mr. Seyoum later succumbed to his injuries. It is believed the backing vehicle severed the pump, causing it to be set alight.

The official investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
