Pedestrian Killed in Crystal Lake, IL, Train Accident

Crystal Lake, IL -- January 26, 2017, a pedestrian suffered fatal injuries as the result of an accident in which they were struck by a train.

Metra officials reported on the fatal accident that occurred around 10:45 a.m. at the Crystal Lake train station, located near Railroad Street and Main Street.

According to preliminary information, a pedestrian was walking in the area of the stations. Reports were not specific on whether the pedestrian was along the tracks or trying to cross. Whatever the case, the pedestrian did not move in time to avoid an oncoming train, and it hit the pedestrian.

Reports say that person was fatally injured in the collision, and medical officials at the scene pronounced the victim deceased shortly after the accident.

At this time, factors surrounding the accident are unclear. Investigations are currently ongoing.
