5 Injured in Houston, TX, Metro Bus Accident on I-45
Houston, TX -- January 26, 2017, five people were injured as the result of an accident in which a Metro bus and an SUV collided on I-45.
The Houston Police Department responded to the accident scene at around 7:00 a.m. near the intersection of I-45 and Rankin Road.
Preliminary investigations indicate that an SUV and a city Metro bus were both traveling southbound on the North Freeway. For reasons that aren't clear, the SUV crashed into the back of the Metro bus. This collision sent the SUV off-road and on top of the median concrete barrier.
Following the collision, three passengers from the bus as well as two people from the SUV were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
At this time, authorities have not released specifics on how the accident occurred. Their investigations are still underway.
