Pedestrian Dies in Houston, TX Accident with Deputy on Westheimer

Houston, TX -- January 27, 2017, a woman was killed following an accident in which she was hit by a police cruiser while walking along Westheimer.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Westheimer Road and Shadowbriar Drive.

Houston Police investigators say that a woman was attempting to cross the roadway at the time of the accident. As she did so, a Harris County Sheriff's Deputy drove through the roadway, not seeing the woman in time. The cruiser hit the woman, knocking her to the road.

As a result of the accident, the woman suffered fatal injuries. She died at the scene.

At this time, authorities have not released any additional details. Their investigations are ongoing.
