Teenager Injured in West Valley City, UT, Street Sweeper Accident

West Valley City, UT -- January 18, 2017, a teenage girl was injured following an accident in which her vehicle collided with a street sweeper.

A 17-year-old girl was driving an SUV near the intersection of 6200 West and 5400 South at around 2:15 p.m. Responding authorities indicate that the girl somehow did not notice a street sweeper on the roadway. As a result, the SUV slammed into the rear-end of the street sweeper.

Due to the damage of the vehicle, the girl required extrication by rescue crews to leave her vehicle. Injuries which were thought to be serious ended up being less severe than originally thought upon further examination. She was taken via ground ambulance to a local hospital.

At this time, police investigators have not determined what exactly caused the accident to occur. They say the crash remains under investigation.
