Navy Man Killed in Accident Oceanside, CA on Route 76

Oceanside, CA -- A collision between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 53-year-old man in the area of Oceanside, CA Saturday, 21, 2017.

The collision occurred on Route 76 and Douglas Drive about 4:30 p.m.

Sources say the man exited his vehicle, parked on the right shoulder, and was subsequently struck. The cause of the incident is unclear, but police believe the victim's vehicle may have had a mechanical issue. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken to a nearby hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the box truck, 53-year-old resident of Fallbrook, was not injured.

Officials are currently conducting the investigation.
