Gary Lee Estes Killed in Accident in Newport News, VA

Newport News, VA -- A collision between a motorcycle and a school bus claimed the life of 61-year-old Gary Lee Estes in the area of Newport News, VA Wednesday, January 25, 2017.

The collision happened at Harpersville Road and Woods Road about 3:10 p.m.

Sources say the bus was turning left from Harpersville onto Woods, and the bike was westbound. At some point, the bike and the bus connected. The operator of the bike, Mr. Estes, was killed at the scene of the incident. No one on the bus, carrying 29 passengers at the time, was injured. The cause of the incident has not been determined.

The official investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
