Jorge Luis Romo Killed in Lea County, NM, Truck Accident

Lea County, NM -- January 24, 2017, Jorge Luis Romo was killed due to an accident in which his vehicle collided with a commercial truck.

The New Mexico State Highway Patrol were called out to the accident scene which took place along US Highway 62.

According to their preliminary investigations, 37-year-old Romo was driving a car down the highway. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. In front of him, a commercial vehicle reportedly failed to yield the right of way to Romo's vehicle, entering his path. As a result, Romo could not stop in time, and his car crashed with the truck.

Romo suffered fatal injuries in the collision, and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene. The other driver was not injured.

At this time, no charges or citations have been reported. Investigations are ongoing.
